Grandma Rock 'n' Roll

My style is difficult to classify.
Sometimes a bit more edgy, other times a bit more conservative, but never cute or girly. I'm not the kind of person who wears a lot of ribbons, ruffle or playful accessories. This also has a bit to do with the fact that I feel like I do not particularly look like my age and tend to get asked for my ID, or at least that's my impression. Its all a matter of perspective.

When an outfit is a bit too girly or stale when I assemble it, there just has to be a something contrasting that balances it out. I like my outfits not too smooth, and not predictable.

"Keep it classy, never trashy, just a little nasty." -Marylin Monroe
That sums it up pretty much.

Just like with this outfit. I like to do my own thing between two worlds, a bit of both, that's all me. But it took me a while to figure it out. There was a great deal of 'trial and error'.

Furthermore, I like to combine classic, more valuable basics with trendy, a little more inexpensive clothes. I think that makes a lot more sense in our day and age, because trends come and go, as fast as you can double-tap an Instagram-picture.

And you do not have to emulate every fashion trend to be stylish. I think authenticity is the most important and most beautiful thing a woman (or man) can wear, and not complete-looks right from the catwalk. Because that is evidence of honesty. Getting inspiration is something different. Basically the whole creative world is based on other ideas, no matter how original an idea seems.

But just like everyone else, my style varies day by day. Sometimes I'm a bit lazy and purely wear a basic sweater with jeans and boots. And sometimes I want to live out my creativity completely, and am surprised what I can conjure from my closet, when I never normally have something to wear. However there are times when I don’t like the outfit, I thought was absolutely genius the day before. As Konrad Adenauer said; "What interests me my talk of yesterday." Konrad knew how the wind blew. But that's the way it is, you change and otherwise you wouldn’t develop as a human being and clothes basically reflect what happens inside of you.
Still, this balance between edgy and conservative is a common thread in my style.
